target group testing
As detailed on the Target Group page, my team and I conducted research about our target group to explore their needs and help dictate the features on the site. This was done with the use of interviews, surveys and interactive prototypes. From this research we gathered a few notable things:
- Based on survey results, most people preferred meeting in-person or offline.
- Most people also took interest in the idea hobby-based group events.
- The student I interviewed mentioned they had to rely on dating apps to find people with common interests, which wasn't ideal as most people they met would go in with dating in mind.
From this research we were able to get an impression of the current landscape of using social media to find people based on interests.
competitor research and analysis
Competitor research and analysis was done to take note of the features and design elements on other social media platforms. Doing this helped our team explore what was common on sites like these, and served as inspiration and general direction to follow in.
Several things were pulled from other sites, such as the hobby/interest selection screen being based off Reddit's sign up process.
