target group
HobIT research
background
For the HobIT project, multiple methods of research were used to better understand the site's target audience of students.
survey
A survey was made using Google Forms to quickly gather (mainly) quantifiable data about the target group.
interviews
Interviews were conducted with a few students to get more in-depth answers. These interviews were recorded with consent from the students and then transcribed.
prototypes
An interactive paper prototype of the site was tested with students to gather their feedback and to observe how they navigate the site. See more on Interactive Prototypes.
reflection
Initial versions of the surveys and interviews weren't very well made. Teachers gave us feedback on the survey saying our questions should focus more on finding out and prioritizing
what features to add based on students' opinions.
As for the interviews, the teachers said they should be treated like conversations rather than simple question and answer, otherwise they wouldn't
be any different from the survey questions.
After this feedback was applied, the quality of answers improved, and the data was more useful to the project.
